Angle unit definitions
- Degree (°)
- A degree is 1/360 of a full turn.
- Radian (rad)
- A radian is the angle that cuts off an arc as long as the radius. A full turn is 2π radians, so one radian is about 57.3°.
- Gradian (grad)
- A gradian is 1/400 of a full turn, so a right angle is exactly 100 gradians. Surveyors in some countries use it.
- Arcminute (′)
- An arcminute is 1/60 of a degree. Rifle scopes and astronomy measure small angles in arcminutes.
- Arcsecond (″)
- An arcsecond is 1/60 of an arcminute, or 1/3,600 of a degree.
- Turn (turn)
- A turn is one full revolution, 360 degrees or 2π radians.
